  • 1 lb (450g) ground lamb or beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 cup (150g) peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 lbs (900g) russet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 4 tablespoons (60g) butter
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic until softened.
  3. Add the ground lamb or beef, diced carrots, and peas to the skillet. Cook until the meat is browned.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce along with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Boil the diced potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash with remaining butter and milk until smooth; season with salt and pepper.
  6. Layer the meat mixture in a baking dish and top with mashed potatoes. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown on top.
