- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup long grain white rice, uncooked
- 2 cups beef broth
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 20-30 minutes until deep brown.
- Increase heat to medium-high. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking into crumbles.
- Stir in minced garlic and black pepper, cooking for 60 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the uncooked rice and toast for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour in the beef broth and soy sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
- Cover with a tight lid and simmer for 15-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
