Description
A deconstructed version of traditional cabbage rolls featuring layers of beef, rice, and cabbage topped with a rich, smokey tomato-paprika sauce.

- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
- 1 onion, diced
- 6 oz tomato paste
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 2 cups water or beef broth
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Brown ground beef and onions in a skillet over medium heat.
- Stir in uncooked rice and season with salt and pepper.
- Place half of the chopped cabbage in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.
- Spread the beef and rice mixture evenly over the cabbage.
- Top with the remaining cabbage.
- Whisk tomato paste, smoked paprika, and water together; pour over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until the top is caramelized.
