Description

These French Bread Dinner Rolls feature a perfectly crisp golden exterior and a light, airy interior. They are the ideal side for soups, stews, or simply enjoyed with butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp melted unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together bread flour and salt.
  4. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the flour. Mix until a dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. Gently punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Roll each piece into a tight ball and place them in the prepared baking pan.
  9. Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  11. Optional: Brush the tops with melted butter immediately after removing from the oven.
