- 1 cup unsalted butter, browned and cooled
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup black cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- Green icing for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Brown the butter in a saucepan until nutty and brown, then cool slightly.
- Cream browned butter with brown and granulated sugars until fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Whisk flour, black cocoa, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl.
- Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Scoop 1-inch balls onto sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Allow to cool slightly, then pipe a dot of green icing in the center.
