Description
A buttery, almond-flavored shortbread cookie sculpted to look like spooky witches’ fingers, complete with slivered almond nails.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 24 slivered almonds
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and almond extract until well combined.
- Gradually mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes to ensure the cookies hold their shape.
- Scoop about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll it into a cylinder (approx. 3-4 inches long), tapering one end.
- Use a toothpick or knife to press small lines into the dough to create knuckle details.
- Press one slivered almond into the tapered end of each finger to create the nail.
- Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
- Cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
